Personally I liked the colouring of the v2 taskboard more than Scrum master workbenches. This might actually be important issue since some of our teams are planning to have the taskboard constantly visible in LCD screens with WiiMote editing possibilities. In this kind of use the "nice colouring migth have significant role in the user experience. As this coloring is subjective topic my concrete proposal would be that you would allow user to modify the coloring of items, swimlanes etc. The colouring could be also used to distinguish the different view from each other...
