"Work Remaining (Scrum)" field breaking Tree-View scenarios in Excel
|

Hello,
Because the "Work Remaining (Scrum)" field is the same name for both the PBI and the SBT, when you view any query in Excel that contains both of these types (like a tree-view query using Implemented By links), you are unable to update that field for either WIT.
It is not treated like "title 1" "title 2" as normal.
This is a big problem for us in our Proof of Concept with the Conchango template.
We "sold" the template as allowing PMs to be able to bulk upload their PBIs and related SBTs in one shot from Excel.
This column breaks that ability, because now Work Remaining is uneditable (and a very important field obviously).

So as I was playing around a little more I realized that this problem has to do with "Data Validation" that is being applied to the fields automatically on certain columns in Excel 2007 for this template.
Something about "Work Remaining" automatically turns the cells in that column to have a drop down per cell that contains only one value (zero). Anything other than zero is a data validation error. So you cant change the value unless every you go and select that all cells in that column and remove all data validation and allow "any value".
Further, as soon as you "Publish" or refresh, that validation rule is returned to the column again.
Very frustrating !!
So, the question is...is there something in the template about that field/data type that has rules being translated by Excel to put data validation on that field...and only zero?

It gets worse.
I am able to edit the "Work Remaing" in the PBI and publish it, but not the SBT.
This is exactly the reverse of how it is supposed to be.
Help?
