New Sprint : TF20017: The area or iteration provided for field 'Iteration Path' could not be found.

I am receving this message when creating a new sprint. I had difficulty with the installation; however, after following some of the articles I managed to uninstall and re-install without any errors. I am running on a FQDN url with SSL dual-server installation of TFS 2008.
The following post describes other people have had this issue, but restarting the server did not resolve the issue. The link to the blog at the bottom of the post is broken.

I also receive this error when trying to create a new Sprint Retrospective. Clicking save presents a dialog box:
Save failed.
TF20017: The area or iteration provided for field 'Iteration Path' could not be found.
TF20017: The area or iteration provided for field 'IterationID' could not be found.
There is no field on the form to select an iteration. Areas and Iterations dialog is popluated with the default values.
