Taskboard Support for VSTS 2010
Hello-

I've searched about everywhere I can think to see if anyone has attempted to Taskboard to work with the new VSTS 2010 & Scrum template v3. From all accounts, I'm unable to have Taskboard "see" any projects when attempting to utilize it. I assuming that Taskboard will need updated to work with the new scrum v3.

Is there early builds\beta of this? Is it in the pipeline at all?

Thanks,

-Chris Adams

Re: Taskboard Support for VSTS 2010
Hello,

I have been working on a task board [version 3] plugin for the Scrum Masters Workbench*. However, internal changes within EMC Consulting mean we have had a change of focus. We are now concentrating on Consultation services over the creation new scrum tools. Consultation is our main business after all.

This means that I'm not sure when a version 3 compatable task board will be released. A meeting with the product owner is planned this week, in which we plan to discuss our goals going forward.

* The SMW was released along with the version 3 template.

Hey Crispin,

I was afraid of that. If your focus shifts enough, what do you think the future of the tool would be? Do you think you would release under open source?

It was a great tool and I sure hope you decide to fix it up as we would love to continue to use it. All of our testing had our group estatic about it.

Thanks,
-Chris

Hi,

I agree with Chris...
Not so surprising but very bad news anyway...

We have found the taskboard very useful and it was one of the key reasons why we ended up using SfTS-template.

Crispin, could you inform the Taskboard users about the results of the meeting with the product owner ASAP in this forum.

Thanks,
Hannu

Re: Taskboard Support for VSTS 2010
Hi,

The situation is still not finalised in house. The current task board (version 1 for TFS 2005 and version 2 for TFS 2008) isn't going away. However, the current licensing mechanism is likely to be simplified in order to reduce our administration overhead.

Task Board support for TFS 2010 projects (SfTS version 3) isn't yet decided, as stated above I have been working on a beta solution that plugs into the Scrum Masters Workbench application. But no decision has been made as to what is going to happen to it. The version 3 task board still needs beta testing and additional development investment.

And that's all that's known at the moment.

In slightly more positive news; Felix Corke (one of our in house design gurus) has spent some time developing the version 2 task board UI. This has been rolled out internally and should be ready for public release very soon.
