Report links missing from the sharepoint site.
The report links for all of my sharepoint portals are missing what the webpart does say is this

Client found response content type of '', but expected 'text/xml'. The request failed with an empty response. No Reports

The only thing I can think of is that some of our internal pages have changed from Http: to HTTPS: but when I go directly to the reports site it is still using HTTP also so do I need to make a change somewhere? Thanks.

Re: Report links missing from the sharepoint site.

Hi

Thank you for your post. Have you installed Team Foundation Server 2008 services pack 1? If so you will need to apply an update which can be found from the following link: http://blogs.conchango.com/stuartpreston/archive/2009/04/06/scrum-for-team-system-v2-2-sql-server-2008-and-the-team-project-portal.aspx.

This system is not on SQL Server 2008. The links to the reports were there before we changed over to SSL internal link structure.

Any other ideas on this? Do I need to edit the webpart in some way?

Re: Report links missing from the sharepoint site.
Still no help here the path to my sharepoint portals are not SSL so I really dont see how this set me to lose the links. I have opened the web part in sharepoint designer and found nothing. I have also added the web parts to the list of web parts for the site.

Re: Report links missing from the sharepoint site.

Hi

To help resolve your issue could you please supply the following information about your Team Foundation Server configuration?

  • Have you installed Team Foundation Server SP1?
  • Have you disabled HTTP on your report server?
  • Can you please run the following command and send us the output:
    • “C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Team Foundation Server\Tools\Tfsadminutil.exe” configureconnections /view
    • After the configuration changes did you re-configure Team Foundation Server to use the HTTPS?
  • Are you using a distributed SharePoint Server for your Team Foundation Server?
  • From your SharePoint server within Internet Explorer do you get a valid response from of the following URLs: http://<reportserver>/reportingservices2005.asmx or https://<reportserver>/reportingservices2005.asmx
  • Since your configuration change have you update your SharePoint Server by using the Team Foundation Server SharePoint Configuration tool (TfsConfigWSS.exe)?

After the configuration changes did you re-configure Team Foundation Server to use the HTTPS? This was not a requirement only some servers and web apps were moved to use SSL addresses. I was not required to move the TFS system to SSL. Which is why I wonder what might have changed on the network to break this I have only noticed this issue with the Webpart since they made changes on the network.

Are you using a distributed SharePoint Server for your Team Foundation Server? No

From your SharePoint server within Internet Explorer do you get a valid response from of the following URLs: http://<reportserver>/reportingservices2005.asmx or https://<reportserver>/reportingservices2005.asmx

The HTTP link works and takes me to the directory for reports.

Since your configuration change have you update your SharePoint Server by using the Team Foundation Server SharePoint Configuration tool (TfsConfigWSS.exe)?

Didnt need to since we really werent moving in that direction. I am really just trying to find out what could have changed on the network that would cause this webpart to not work. I am not 100% certain that the SSL changes on the network has anything to do with it it is just the only thing that I can point to at the moment.
We have two seperate systems and the same webpart broke on both.

When I go to this link on the server I get a generic windows login.

When I go to it from a client machine I get a huge bit of XML.

Re: Report links missing from the sharepoint site.

Hi

From the answers you’ve supplied we can’t see a valid reason for the error that you are experiencing. I would recommend again the following fix: http://blogs.conchango.com/stuartpreston/archive/2009/04/06/scrum-for-team-system-v2-2-sql-server-2008-and-the-team-project-portal.aspx.

This is because you have installed team foundation server 2008 service pack 1 which this fix is for. There were some fundamental changes that were introduced to add support for SQL Server 2008 however this still has a knock on effect with SQL server 2005 servers as well. Installing this fix will ensure that you are calling the correct Reporting Services Web Methods.

Re: Report links missing from the sharepoint site.
Well this didnt seem to work I uninstalled to previous DLL and dropped the one from Prestons blog in the C:\Windows\Assembly folder and restarted everything. When I run IISRESET I get nasty errors like this:

EventType clr20r3, P1 dbservice.exe, P2 2.0.3376.26052, P3 49d0baf1, P4 xheo.licensing, P5 2.1.5000.0, P6 446bce6e, P7 243, P8 65d, P9 system.componentmodel.license, P10 NIL.

An unhandled exception ('System.ComponentModel.LicenseException') occurred in DBService.exe [20716]. Just-In-Time debugging this exception failed with the following error: Debugger could not be started because no user is logged on.

These seem to be causing IIS to lock up on reset. If you could send me the original DLL that came with the set I would like to have that and probably reinstall it in the Assembly folder. I have extracted the MSI and could not find it in there. Is there a repair option in the MSI? THanks.

Re: Report links missing from the sharepoint site.
Sound like your installation is very broken. I would suggest a complete un-install / re-install of the process template.

If you wish to extract the original "Conchango.TeamSystem.Scrum.Sharepoint.dll" file from the "ScrumforTeamSystem.ServerComponents.2.2.14165.003.msi" installer, you will need to rename the SharePoint solution file to have a "CAB" extenstion.

  • [MSI]\PFiles\Conchango\Scrum for Team System\SFTS WSS Template\Conchango.TeamSystem.Scrum.Sharepoint.wsp
  • [MSI]\PFiles\Conchango\Scrum for Team System\SFTS WSS Template\Conchango.TeamSystem.Scrum.Sharepoint.cab

Then look inside the cab file.
