Request: User friendly error message.
I am pretty sure someone allready requested more friendly errormessages, and I am also pretty sure that this request was (somewhat) agreed upon.

So I will submit (for your consideration) a scenario to get a few unfriendly messages out of the system. (this has actually happened). I am doing this from memory, I try to be as acurate as possible.

I had the taskboard open on my system, and the TFS-administrator decided it would be a good time te redo the team assignments. The action he took was:
Reassign existing users to newly created teams.
Remove old teams.

I "encountered the following errors"/"performed the following tasks" in the taskboard:
1) Could not safe item because item contained illegal values. (no indication which)
2) I pressed refresh.
3) Could not safe item because item contained illegal values. (no indication which)
4) I checked the "team" field because this situation had occured before.
5) I noticed the field was blanc.
6) I discoverd the field only showed up blanc. Under the hood it still had the previous team value, which the taskboard could not display because it was no longer in the 'lookuplist'.
7) I cleared the team field and tried to save the item again.
8) Could not safe item because item contained illegal values. (no indication which)
9) Let's reload the project+Sprint, I thought. Perhaps that will help.
10) Now the application started throwing exceptions like "index out of bounds: -1" and some other faults.
11) Closed the application
12) reopend the sprint and item, reset the team field.
13) I was now able to save the item.

This scenario provided me with some insights:
1) A bad administrator can bring down any application.
2) Restarting the application is not the same as reloading a project. Some caches are not cleared on reload.
3) Like someone mentioned in another post before. "a restart will cure allmost any error"
4) An error message indication that there's an error with the teamassignements couls have saved me some time.
