My TFS administrator attempted to run the install for Scrum for Team Systems 1.2. It is asking him to install the team system client, and this is not something he wants to do (it doesn't make sense to him why the client would be needed to install this on the server side). Can he run it from another machine to install? Are there any install instructions out there for this? I've only had experience installing this in a VM that I was using to prototype, which was in stand alone mode and I had the ability to install the client.

Any help would be much appreciated.. Thanks

Hi Gregh42,

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. We are incredablly busy at the moment with, task boards, new template versions, PDC presentations, and loads of other activities.

In answer to your question: Is it possible to install the server components without Team Explorer being installed on the server?

The answer is no. The processes used within the SfTS template (and it's associtated web services) require access to the Team Foundation APIs that are installed as part of the Team Explorer. These apis cannot be re-distributed along with the process template installer as several are compiled into native images during the installation process.

Installing the template without having TE installed on the server would break some of the functionality of the SfTS template. Work example the releated work item "work remaining" update.
