Display Goes Black on Vista Enterprise - Beta v3.1
I have a user that is running Vista Enterprise w/SP1 and he has noticed some strange video issues when using the Task Board Beta v3.1.

The symptons are that wehn using the Task Board the screen goes black followed by a message that states "display driver has failed and Vista has successfully recovered." This user has been using Vista since June and has never seen this with any other application.

Well that doesn't sound good!

The task board has been tested on Vista SP1 (Ultimate Edition), in fact I'm looking at it right now on a Vista box.

During testing we did get one strange incident with a Vista display. The tooltip and context menus all aligned with the top left of the screen and the application locked up. Clearing some local corupt cache data solved that issue. Even though the symptoms are not the same it may be worth a try.

Clearing the local TFS cache:

  1. Close all applications that are using the TFS connections (Visual Studio, Task Board, Web Interface, etc)
  2. Delete all files under:

    C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Team Foundation\2.0\Cache

Clearing the taskboard cached files:

  1. Close all task board instances
  2. Delete all files under:

    C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Local\CONCHANGO\Conchango.TeamSystem.Task_StrongName_sly0gybwknodflumsyd0tfclhopc3tee\
Note: The user will need to import the license file again after clearing this data.

Also, does the machines' Event Log have any indication or additonal informaiton on the cause of the display driver failure?

Looks like this was some strange windows issues that automagically fixed itself with a reboot. After I posted the error I had him reboot and he has not seen the issue since. I should know by now that a reboot can cure any problem... sorry for the false alarm.

Thanks for detailing the steps to clear the cache.
