Does Migration Utility Move Areas & Iterations?
Is the Migration Utility supposed to migrate Areas and Iterations artifacts? I'm finding that it is not in my case but I wanted verification before pursuing it further.

Re: Does Migration Utility Move Areas & Iterations?
The main reason I'm asking is becuase when I use the migration utility, the 'Area' path and 'Release and/or Sprint' path on the imported PBIs, SBIs and Sprint Work Items are changed to the root area/iteration path.

As a test, I manually replicated the Areas and Iterations in the team project to which I'm migrating thinking if they existed during the import that it would maintain the path but no luck.

So my problem is two-fold. One, the migration utility is not migrating Areas and Iterations (which it may not be designed to do) and two, the PBIs and SBIs lose path entries upon import, which I think is a bug.

Please advise... I have over 1000 PBIs/SBIs that I don't want to have to re-path by hand, if at all possible.

Hi Eric,

I fully understand your problem. Migration is really painful process. Unfortunatly, we just don't have spare time or capacity to support the migration utility. As stated in my blog post, it was never intended for public release. I just thought that someone might find it useful.

Sorry for the negative response, however I am willing to let you have the source code for the utility. Maybe you could make some alterations and get it working.

Let me know if you are interested.
