Team and Environments not showing up in dropdowns for backlog or sprint items

TFS 2008 but with WSS 2.0 so we are using SfTS v1.2

I created Teams and Environments using the ListManager. When I hit the Update Global List button  I got a messageBox that just said Error. I checked the global list by exporting with glexport. I see the Teams and Environments in the XML with my project name attached.

My problem is the dropdowns for Owned By and Environments aren't picking up the lists. I have refreshed my project, refreshed all of my projects, logged out of Team Explorer and logged back in. What am I missing?

Thanks,

Glen Smith

Re: Team and Environments not showing up in dropdowns for backlog or sprint items

Hi Glen,

Sorry to hear that you are experiencing problems with the process template.

Unfortunately, version 1.2 of the Scrum for Team System template is only designed to run on TFS 2005 with WSS 2.0. Using this version of the template on a different configuration will result in unforeseen and unpredictable behaviour.

From the description of your actions in the above post, it sounds as if you have correctly completed the tasks needed to create teams and environments. Another option is to use the Team Foundation Server Power tools add-in for visual studio. With this Add-in it is possible to create Global Lists manually. However, a guide on how this is accomplished is outside the scope of this forum.

Another thing to try is physically clearing the cached data on your system. This is accomplished by deleting the cache files under your user account on your workstation. In a windows XP environment, the files are located under:

C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Team Foundation\1.0\Cache

Please post back with your findings and I’ll try and offer assistance where I can,
