Plugin error text: “TF30272: Template not found on the server”

I was able to successfully install the server components on the application tier and I can see the scrum process template as an option when I go to create a new project. However I am getting this error when I try to create a new scrum project:
Plugin error text: “TF30272: Template not found on the server”
Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Could you post the error log seen from within Team Explorer (the link appears in the wizard after the project creation is rolled back). If I recall correctly, this error is to do with Sharepoint rather than TFS. Can you give more details of your setup - do you have WSS 2.0 installed on your App Tier?

Yes, WSS 2.0 is installed on the App Tier. I think you're right about this being related to WSS, after digging around some more on the internet it seems like i'm just missing the WSS site template that is associated with the Agile Software Development with Scrum - v1.2 process template. Is this something you can send me or provide a link to? It should be an 'stp' file.

Hi Matt,
Actually there was no .stp file for v1.2 - the required template files are installed into the filesystem. To verify this, please can you check for the presence of c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\60\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS\tfsredirect_scrum.aspx?

Thanks for the follow up, I just checked for the file you mentioned and it does not exist on our App Tier. There were no errors when I installed the server components. Any idea how I might be able to fix? We are very excited to start using this product!

Hello Again,
My appologies, the file was installed but to a different drive. The C drive houses our windows OS however I installed the server components to the E drive, could this be the reason that TFS is unable to locate the WSS template? Do I need to install the server components on the same drive as Windows?

Hi Matt,
The installer looks in the registry for the default path to the WSS files (usually on the C: drive) - so yes, you usually need to leave the WSS components installing to the default location.
You should be able to copy the files from your E: drive to the relevant path on the C: drive and restart IIS to solve your particular issue.

Thanks for your help Stuart :-) I was able to get the template to work by uninstalling and reinstalling to the C drive. I tried manually copying the files to the c drive and restarting IIS but stilll got the same error. It must have something to do with installing to the e drive. Oh well, problem fixed and we're gearing up for our first sprint with Scrum for Team Systems. I'll let you know how it goes.

I just installed the 2.1 release and I'm getting the same error message. Only in my scenario the SCRUM installer deployed the ASPX file to the following path:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensio
ns\12\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS\tfsredirect.aspx
There are alot of files in this folder so it seems to be the right location. Anyone have an idea on how I could fix the problem?
